Her (2013)
“Sometimes I think I have felt everything I’m ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I’m not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I’ve already felt.” - Theodore
A plot that travels into the future of technology and how it’ll affect not only our careers and lifestyles, but how it’ll affect the rest of our social relationships. Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) is currently undergoing the stages after a divorce that left him heartbroken; in an attempt to forget his ex wife, he decides to purchase OS1 promoted as the world’s first artificially intelligent operating system. It let him make a name and even choose personalities and a gender for his OS -- he then names it Sam. He eventually ends up spending literally all of his time with Sam- as soon as he wakes up, and right before he goes to bed, it’s Sam he turns to. And almost inevitably, he ends up falling in love with her. But Sam is nothing beyond an operating system. And how do you handle being in love with someone who isn’t even real? Defeating the dimensions of relationships, Her presents an unconventional love story that will surely leave you in gasps.
