Ruby Sparks (2012)
“Any writer can attest: in the luckiest, happiest state, the words are not coming from you, but through you. She came to me wholly herself, I was just lucky enough to be there to catch her.” - Calvin
The best thing about writing is creating your own images of the world from your own perspectives, and even throwing in your own made up characters to make them come to life. But what will you do when your own supposed fictional characters literally come to life? Calvin (Paul Dano), a genius novelist spends numerous nights dreaming of one girl before he decides to make her the star of his next novel. He named her Ruby Sparks (Zoe Kazan). One morning Calvin wakes up after a long, successful night of writing aka getting to know Ruby almost as if they were on a date and almost as if he was actually falling in love with her, and wakes up to not only breakfast but to a living and breathing Ruby Sparks smack right in the middle of his kitchen.
A spectacular storyline that will keep you wanting more and wanting to find out where you can get your own Ruby Sparks. A film very dear to my heart made by the directors of Little Miss Sunshine (Valerie Dayton and Jonathan Dayton), that will teach you that there’s no such thing as a perfect love and a perfect relationship -- and maybe, that’s a good thing.
