Palo Alto (2013)
April: "But what if I don't think there's a reason for something happening?" Mr. B: "...Because you're young and you don't know why you do things. But there's always a reason"
Trying to find out how the world works may faze typical teenagers like us and sometimes it gets frustrating how adults don't understand that we're trying to figure out how things work.
Based on James Franco's book of the same name, Palo Alto mainly follows the lives of highschoolers, Teddy (Jack Kilmer), a troubled teenager who typically faces the pressures of his wild best friend Fred (Nat Wolff), April, a seemingly innocent footballer who falls for her coach and Emily (Zoe Levin) who would seek out experiences with both Fred and Teddy. Initially, these characters muck up and display attitudes of a stereotypical teen, one that engages in vices and never seem to want to learn from his/her mistake but as the movie progresses, the characters do display signs of longing to get out of their situation for the hope of a better life.
Palo Alto perfectly encapsulates the world of what goes on in the head of teenagers. Well some at least.
